Quietest Lawn Mower Buyer Guide
Shopping for a quiet lawnmower for your lawn is never easy. There are so many features to consider, not to mention the numerous options available on the market.
Below are some of the essential things to remember
Cutting Deck Size
With a large cutting deck, you will cut more glass at once and complete your task fast. If you have a large lawn, a mower with a large cutting deck is ideal.
Maneuvering a mower with a large cutting deck on a small lawn can be quite a challenge. Go with a smaller deck to match the size of your yard.
What do you have to do to keep that mower in perfect condition? Are there moving parts that need to be cleaned and oiled before storage?
Electric mowers tend to be low maintenance compared to gas options.
If yours is a gas mower, you have to change the oil, replace the air filters, and at times be forced to deal with oil spill issues.
With an electric mower, ensure that the unit is charged if it comes with batteries.
You may also need to change the blades, but a good mower should stay sharp for a few years.
It is important to get a mower with an adjustable height so you can mow your lawn to your desired height.
Adjusting the height should be easy such that you can effortlessly complete the process even when mowing.
You may also want a mower with adjustable handles. This way, it is easy to customize the mower to the height of the person doing the mowing.
This applies if you want an electric, battery-powered mower. Check how many batteries are offered, the runtime, and how long it takes to recharge the mower.
If you have a medium to a large lawn, choose a mower with a battery that will take an hour or so before you need to recharge it.
A fast recharge time is ideal since you will only need to take a short break before continuing with your mowing work.
If the mower is corded, the cord should be long enough to ensure comfortable operation.
You can buy a heavy-duty cord separately, but you have to factor in the additional cost if the cord provided is not to your desired length.
Some mowers come with other features such as a mulching function which is a plus.
With the finely cut grass that provides some much-needed nutrients to the soil, you do not need to worry too much about your plants’ growth.
Some handles are ergonomically designed, while others are just plain.
There are also adjustable handles that allow you to change the height of the mower for optimum comfort.
It is better to buy a multipurpose tool that will work in different ways to keep your lawn healthy.
Who Makes The Quietest Gas Lawn Mower?
You probably wondering, if the above self-propelled and electric corded lawnmowers are quiet, then who makes the quietest gas lawn mower?
While the gas lawn mowers are in no comparison with electric/ self-propelled lawn mowers, there are some that are considerably quiet.
Ariens Model 911097 is the closest thing I can refer as being quiet- it comes with a Honda engine.
I checked with Honda, claiming to make the quietest gas-powered lawn mower engines, which seems to be the case.
